چکیده
Background: Postoperative chemotherapy (pCT), together with chemoradiotherapy (pCRT), is well used for the treatment of squamous cell carcinoma in esophagus. However, these adjuvant therapies may cause serious adverse effects resulting higher postoperative morbidity.
Methods: In this study, we aim to assess and compare cardiopulmonary complications as a result pCT pCRT patients esophageal cancer. PCT (n = 182) or 153) was conducted treat cancer.
Results: A significantly percentage pneumonia diagnosed compared group (P < 0.01). comparison treated group, showed decreased early diastolic filling velocity 0.01) plasma level N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) Moreover, associated risk increased NT-proBNP by multivariate analysis.
 Conclusion: treatment.

Evaluation of Cyclin D1 Expression in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma and its Effect on Response Rate to Neo- adjuvant Chemoradiotherapy
Background and Objective: Esophageal cancer especially squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is one of the most common gastro intestinal malignancies in north part of Iran (Khorasan). The standard treatment for esophageal cancer is surgical resection, but its outcome remains poor. Then, the oncologists try to treat this cancer with sandwich protocols especially neo-adjuvant chemo-radiotherapy. Sever...
متن کاملTELOMERASEACTIVITYIN IRANIAN PATIENTS WITH ESOPHAGEAL SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA
Telomerase activation is one of the main pathways to immortalize cancer cells. In many kinds of cancer cells, this special reverse transcriptase stabilizes and elongates telomeres and prevents telomere erosion that naturally occurs in every cell division. Esophageal cancer is the fifth most frequent cause of cancer death worldwide, and is highly associated with alcohol, smoking, cultural ha...
متن کاملExpression analysis of CD44 isoforms S and V3, in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
Objective(s): CD44 is a member of the cell adhesion molecules family. Naturally, CD44S, along with CD44V3 influence the cell motility, migration, and adhesion, while in tumor cells they lead to tumor invasion, progression, and metastasis. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the CD44S and CD44V3 expression in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (ESCC) and to reveal their correlations wit...
متن کاملNeoadjuvant chemotherapy may not benefit esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients treated with definitive chemoradiotherapy.
BACKGROUND To assess the efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients treated with definitive chemoradiotherapy (CRT). METHODS The clinical data of patients with ESCC treated with chemoradiotherapy with or without NAC were collected and retrospectively reviewed. The overall survival, locoregional failure-free survival, and distant failure-fr...
متن کاملPrevalence of Nucleotide Alterations of EGFR Gene in Patients with Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Kerman
Background & Aims: Esophageal Cancer is the sixth fatal cancer in the world. Squamous and adenocarcinoma account for 95% of esophageal cancer. The expression of EGFR has a role in the pathophysiology of epidermal-based malignancies such as esophageal cancer. EGFR is also an important criterion in the evaluation of disease staging and prognosis. The aim of this study was to survey the prevalence...
